Tour Description
Walking Weekend in Wales and Snowdonia National Park:
Aug 18th – 20th 2023
A Walking weekend in Wales including Snowdon Mountain.
Wales really is the land of the Valleys as Tom Jones once sang. There are numerous locations for great walks of all types from lovely coastal walks, to forest trails, open mountain tracks to more demanding hikes. On this tour we will visit one of its most famous regions, Snowdonia National Park and stay within its borders in the beautiful small town of Betws y coed (prayer house in the woods).
Snowdonia National Park covers some 823 square miles and extends inland from the coast between Penmaenmawr and Caernarfon, by way of Bethesda to Bala Lake and Llanfairfechan. There are nunerous trails and walks within the park and of course its main highlight Snowdon its self. There are many ways to the summit and even a train most of the way up from LLanberis.
We have explored much of the area and are sure that you are going to love this region of Wales and some of the walks we have chosen.

Itinerary
Itinerary: Walking Weekend in Wales
Day 1) Ferry from Dublin to Holyhead – Walk in Snowdonia National Park.
Leave Dublin early approx. 08:00am and arrive in Holyhead at 11:30am. Once we are Wales, we will travel towards Snowdonia National Park and do a short walk in the area, approx. 2-3hrs just to get an idea of this beautiful region. Then we travel to Betws y Coed where we will be staying for the next 2 nights.
Day 2) Walk Snowdon Mountain – or alternative walk
We will need to be up early this morning to get a start at our demanding walk today of Mount Snowdon. We will decide on which way we can approach this summit as there are a few. The most popular are the Miners trail, the Pyg trail or following the trail from Llenberis, along the railway line that travels towards the peak. Either way it will take approx. 5-6hrs to complete.
An alternative route or walk will be offered who may find Snowdon too daunting.
When we have completed our walk, we will make our way back towards where we are staying and relax for the evening, hopefully feeling very chuffed with ourselves.
This small town has plenty of bars, restaurants and even a train station. It is a wonderful old style Welsh town and very popular with walkers.
Day 3) Today after breakfast we will make our way back across Wales towards our Ferry at Holyhead and hope to be back in Dublin for 6pm.
