Private Day Tour of Wicklow, Glendalough and Kilkenny.

About the Private Tour:

This Private tour will bring you from Dublin to Glendalough, which is in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Here you can visit the ancient 6th century monastic site of St Kevin. You can also visit the famous lakes which are nestled in this beautiful valley. Glendalough is a very popular part of Wicklow for people to come to enjoy some walking, cycling or just enjoy a picnic in the area.

There will also be time to enjoy a coffee or tea here before we continue on your journey out through the Wicklow Gap and further south towards Kilkenny.

About Kilkenny:

Kilkenny Tour
Kilkenny is an old Norman town with one of Ireland’s most impressive Castles. The castle was owned by the Butler family. At one time the Butlers were one of the most powerful and influential families in all of Ireland and they owned much of the land in Kilkenny.

They built many castles and fine houses but Kilkenny Castle was their main accommodation.  On reaching Kilkenny, we can have some lunch in this old town of small roads and alleyways. There is a real medieval feel to this town as you make through it.

There are some other very important buildings in Kilkenny that you may also be interested in. St Canice’s Cathedral, Rothe house and Garden (Old Merchant home Typical of its time) or the Dame Alice Kyteler building.

The Kyteler Bar was named after the first recorded person condemned for witchcraft in Ireland, although she let her servant “Petronilla” take all the punishment.

There are also many fine restaurants and pubs to enjoy your lunch. Your guide will recommend a few depending on what you would like to eat.

After lunch you can visit Kilkenny Castle before your guide brings you through the streets and shows you many other sites of this town.

Your guide will give a richer understanding of Ireland’s history, its people and their connection with this area.

These are just some of the many areas you can visit. As this is a private tour of course your guide can also suggest other locations of interest or you can also choose your own.

We arrive back to Dublin for approx 17:30 – 18:00
