About the Walk: Starting at the beginning of the Dublin Mountain Way at Brady’s Pub in Shankill Villag
We then follow a beautiful tree lined laneway passing a striking Fassaroe Cross leading into Rathmichael Wood where we come to the hill fort or rath that dominates the summit and after which the area is named.
We exit Rathmichael Wood onto Pucks Castle Lane before heading upwards to Carrickgollogan. We will take a route through the woods before climbing up the east side of Carrickgollogan with stunning views of Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains.
From there, we will continue through the lanes to The Lead Mines Chimney and then return to the start of the walk back in Shankill Village.
From the 21st C gated mansions to the fortified gated communities of Pre-Christian Ireland, this route offers plenty of ‘How the other half live’ down through the centuries and more besides!
Getting to the Start: The walk starts from Shankill Train Station
You can take the DART to Shankill Train station from any of the Dublin Train stations (DART)
Public Bus: 145, 155 or 84/a serve Shankill town.

How long is the Walk?
The walk is approx 10Km and taken at as easy pace.
Cancellation Policy:
• A cancellation fee of 100% applies for cancellations made less than 48hrs in advance, or in case of no-show.
• A cancellation fee of 50% applies for cancellations made less than 72hrs in advance.
• No cancellation fee applies for cancellations made 3 or more days in advance.
