Choice of Walk – Along the Old Railway from Tinahealy to Shillelagh
What better way to celebrate the feast of our Patron Saint than to have a good hike through our green countryside with like minded people? This year we will board a bus and head to the deep south to enjoy a day of unusual sights, walking, talking and possibly a few glasses.

Details of Walks: Two routes are on offer – a 18/20 km route taking us through the low hills above Tinahely, down to the old railway line walk by the Derry River towards Shillelagh and the Dying Cow Pub.

There is also a shorter 10/11 km on a railway walk between Tinahealy and Shillelagh with mild slopes. Both routes end in the best of places – the renowned “Dying Cow” pub at Stratnakelly.

We will meet in Enniskerry village for 09:30am and we aim to be at Tinahely (Lugduff Centra at 10.30). Here we will join forces with another walking group and split into two groups, depending on fitness and enthusiasm levels. Bring a sandwich and some beer money and have an open mind on return times, as always on a day trip with a group.

How to get there:

The best way to get to Enniskerry from Dublin or Bray would be to get onto the N11 heading south. Take the turn for Brennanstown / Powerscourt Gardens Cross back over the N11 and follow small winding road to Enniskerry village.

Pickup Locations:

Maldron Hotel, Tallaght: 8:45am
Luas Balally (Dundrum): 09:00am
