Details of Walk: This is a lovely short walk on one of Wicklow’s iconic peaks, the great sugar loaf. The sugar loaf way has just been recently opened and there are plans to extend this. We will meet at the Kilmacanogue 1619 memorial and join the trail here. The trail travels west below the Sugar loaf and then takes a left turn south and gradually inclines from here. The trail gives excellent views across the Wicklow mountains, Djouce, Maulin and the deer park of Powerscourt can be seen. The trail then eventually meets a well marked trail that we can use to summit the sugarloaf and to enjoy views across Dublin, Wicklow and the Irish sea. We will make our way back a different way and join the trail back to where we started.
What to expect: Narrow lane ways with stone walls, greenways and Hillside trails,
expansive views of Irish sea and the Wicklow Mountains.
How to get there: Traveling from Dublin take the M50 and the N11 take the turn of at Kilmacanogue.
Just as cross over the bridge across the N11 , the monument will be on your right.
