7 Days walking the Slovakian Tatra Mountains.

The Tatra Mountains, are part of the Carpathian Mountain chain in eastern Europe. They create a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. Both Slovak and Polish sides are protected as national parkland and are popular destinations for winter and summer sports. The Tatras are home to wildlife including the Tatra chamois, marmot, lynx and bears. Slovakia has the highest mountain in the range: 2,655m Gerlach Peak.
Where we are staying: Poprad is a city at the foot of Slovakia’s High Tatras Mountains. It’s known as a gateway to Tatras National Park. The central Námestie sv. Egídia is a square with baroque buildings and the 13th-century St. Egidius Church. Northeast is the well-preserved Spišská Sobota area, with centuries-old houses and churches. The Tatra Gallery displays visual art by Slovak and international artists in an old power plant.
About the Walks: We will be doing a selection of walks throughout the week. From 10Km to more demanding 16Km with some ascents of 850m on one day. The terrain can be varied from forest trails to steeper mountain tracks.
Accommodation: Privately owned bed and breakfast in Poprad town. Each guest would have en-suite private room unless specified otherwise upon booking. The price provided is based on single occupancy in the room
Dinner and drinks options:
Each guest will be provided with a detailed document with restaurants and bars in the area so they can go and explore the local foods and restaurants. There is a medieval part of town around 1 min walk away from the accommodation. Poprad town center is around 15-minute walk.
Local activities:
Water park and spa Aqua city with 13 indoor and outdoor pools, wellness spas with inhalation rooms and saunas are just around the corner. Around 2-minute walk from the accommodation.
Cancellation Policy for Walking in Slovakia:
A cancellation fee of 100% applies for cancellations made less than 2 weeks in advance, or in case of no-show.
A cancellation fee of 50% applies for cancellations made less than 4 weeks in advance.
No cancellation fee applies for cancellations made 4 weeks or more in advance.
Itinerary
Itinerary, 7 Days, 6 nights.
Day 1 – Arrival at Krakow, Transfer to Poprad, meet your guide, Time to explore.
Day 2 – Popradske Lake Hike –10km – (387m ascend) -3.5 hours. Opportunity to make it slightly harder is to carry on to Ostrva peak 16km (842m ascend) –total 5.5 hours – restaurant available for lunch mid stop.
Day 3 Cold Water Waterfalls Hike – 8km – (435m ascend) – 3/3.5 hours
Day 4 Sliezsky Dom Hike –14.7km – (865 ascend) – 6 hours
Day 5 Green Lake –16.5km – (675m ascend) – 6.5hours
Day 6 Waterfall Skok Hike and Jamske Lake walk (if people don’t have enough ) –10.6km – 441m ascend) –3.5hours
Day 7 -departure, transfer back to Krakow.
