Day 1: Your adventure starts with a Pickup at Suffolk Street (Molly Malone Statue) @ 09:30
Scenic Day tour of Wicklow with a Guided walk
We will travel into the heart of the Wicklow Mountain National Park while making our way towards Glendalough where we will be staying for the next two nights.
On the drive we will see Enniskerry, film location of “P.S. I love you” and “Leap Year”. Glencree, the Sally Gap, Lough Tay, The Guinness family Estate and film location of “Brave Heart”.
The walk today is just a 1.5 hrs short walk near the town of Enniskerry.
We will be staying at a Guesthouse in Glendalough, which provides excellent accommodation with great facilities. We will visit one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. This is a fantastic location to start this tour and I’m sure you will agree when you see it.
After your tour you will be brought to your accommodation to relax for a while and in the evening enjoy a meal in the Wicklow Heather restaurant.
There are many local pubs that you can unwind and listen to some traditional music.
Day 2:
The Spinc Walk in Glendalough
The Spinc Walk: Approx 3 – 4hrs, ascent: 300m (moderate)
We will be Starting today’s walk from the monastic site of St Kevin in Glendalough, this is one of the most beautiful walks in the area. It is a looped walk which brings you around the upper lake and gives wonderful views of the valley below. There will be plenty of stops along the way to take some pictures and take in the scenery around us.
You will be passing by an old mining village, an ancient Celtic King’s cemetery, a wonderful waterfall and some forested area with a mix of Scot Pines, Beech and silver birch trees.
We will be stopping along the way to have a snack at a scenic location looking down the whole valley.
When we arrive back to Glendalough it’s time to relax, have a meal and something to drink.
Day 3:
Powerscourt Gardens, Enniskerry and the Wicklow Way.
This morning we will leave Glendalough and drive to Enniskerry where we will visit The Powerscourt Gardens. Those on the 5 day tour will be staying here for the next two nights in the Coolakay B+B (Voted best B+B in Wicklow for past 5 years).
This picturesque village is famous for the Powerscourt Garden’s in County Wicklow and it’s also the film location of “P.S. I love you” and the Hollywood Block buster “Leap Year”.
For those on the 3 day tour we say goodbye to Wicklow and take the scenic drive through Glencree back to Dublin. (If you are not too much of a rush back to Dublin you can also do part of the Wicklow Way, see below)
For those on the 5 day tour – You can enjoy a self guided walk from along part of The Wicklow Way from Glencree back to your accommodation in Enniskerry. Approx 3hrs 12Km ascent 280m
Afterwards you can relax at your accommodation at the Coolakay B+B
Although Enniskerry is a small village it has many great restaurants, lively pubs and quaint coffee shops to relax in.
We can also organise some other activities for you in the area.
• Horse Riding – experience some horse riding over looking some great country side.
• Mountain Biking – On a purpose built track with great guides.
• Cycling
• Golf – Selection of great golf courses in this area.
These can be arranged for you by your guide on the tour.
Day 4:
The Wicklow Way or the Sugarloaf Mountain
There is a choice of walk today.
The Wicklow Way Walk approx 4hrs, ascent: 500m (moderate)
Sugarloaf Walk approx 1.5hrs, ascent: 100m (easy)
The Wicklow Way walk is over Djouce Mountain along part of the Wicklow Way. The walk over Djouce starts at Crone woods and follows the Wicklow way trail which brings you through a wooded area with beautiful views across to the sugarloaf and along the east coast of Ireland. The path goes along a trail over looking Powerscourt waterfall, the highest waterfall in Ireland. The trail will finish at Lough Tay below Luggala Mountain.
The Sugarloaf walk which is a very popular walk for locals in this area gives wonderful views across the Irish Coastline of Dublin and Wicklow for such an easy ascent. This is a linear walk to the summit of the Sugar loaf and on a clear day you can see The Mountains of Mourne and Snowdonia in Wales.
In the evening you can enjoy something to eat in one of the many restaurants or local bars in Enniskerry.
Day 5:
Short coastal walk and drop back to Dublin.
Today we have a short Coastal Cliff Walk 1 -2 hrs
After breakfast and we will drive to the small town of Greystones on the Wicklow Coastline. Here you can enjoy a self guided coastal walk to Bray, the walk is only 1.5hrs and a perfect finish to a great stay in Ireland and Wicklow.
The small seaside town of Bray used to be a very popular holiday spot during the Victorian times and still has a very English feel to it, with its long promenade and sea front amusements.
We will then make our way back to Dublin along Dublin’s Sea front.
We will arrive back to Dublin in the afternoon.
