Walk around the Vartry Lakes

Walking time: Approx 3hrs, Distance: 10Km.
Graded: Easy – Moderate
Terrain: The trail follows lakeside paths and country roads with fantastic views across the water

About This Walk: This a Sli na Slainte trail near the town of Roundwood in County Wicklow. It follows the edge of Vartry reservoir for 7.2km along lakeside paths and country roads flanked by trees with fantastic views across the water in all directions, this is a comfortable walk along the water’s edge. The reservoir was developed in the 1860s to provide clean water for the people of Dublin.

We will be stopping for a bite to eat along the way so bring a small packed lunch.

How to get there:

The best way to get to Roundwood from Dublin would be to get onto the N11 heading south. Get off it at Kilmacanogue and head for the Roundwood / Glendalough / Laragh direction. Continue on this road to Roundwood and the Coach house Pub is just on your left as enter the village. There is parking along the side of the road as you enter the village.
