Glendalough – Derrybawn Ridge – Loop Walk
Walking time: Approx 3-4hrs, Distance: 12Km. Ascent: 495m
Terrain: Open mountain trails and forest track.
About The Walk: This walk will bring us along the Upper Lake to the Pollinass Waterfall, over forest paths and open moorland to Derrybawn. The final ascent of Derrybawn is steep in places. From there we will traverse the Derrybawn Ridge, the only true ridge in The Wicklow Mountains, ascend Mullacor and descend via the Wicklow Way and through forest back to Glendalough. Along the way we will have some magnificent views of the Glendalough and Glenmalure Valleys and Lugnaquilla (the highest mountain in Wicklow).
How to get there: The best way to get to Glendalough from Dublin or Bray would be to get onto the N11 heading south. Get off it at Kilmacanogue and head for the Roundwood / Glendalough / Laragh direction. Go through Roundwood, then Annamoe and to Laragh. Follow the Road towards Glendalough and the Hotel is just on the left.
