Lough Tay, Wicklow
This Award-winning Tour leaves from Dublin Daily. There are options on this tour to visit the Powerscourt Gardens (discounted rate of €8 not covered in cost), enjoy a Guided Walk or Horse-Ride in the Wicklow Hills.
Your tour starts with a pickup from Dublin and a scenic drive south into the hills and glens of county Wicklow. The guides are very friendly and full of local history and stories of both Dublin and Wicklow and will keep you informed along the way.
Our first stop on the tour is Enniskerry (film location of “P.S. I Love You” and “Leap Year”), a small picturesque Victorian estate village in Wicklow.
Here you are brought to your chosen activity or the Powerscourt House & Gardens.
About the Activities: The activities are approx. 1.5hrs in length and suitable for both beginners and the more experienced alike with great guides to assist.
The Powerscourt Gardens (discounted rate of €8 not covered in cost). The Gardens were Voted No. 3 in the World’s Top 10 Gardens by the National Geographic.
After your activity or visit to Powerscourt we all meet back up and take a break for lunch in Enniskerry. We like to go to a local cafe here called “Poppies”, who offer a wide selection of lunches. From their Poppies pie to soup, sandwiches, salads and excellent deserts. They also cater for vegetarians.
Horse Riding in Wicklow
The tour continues after lunch through the Wicklow Mountains visiting many of Wicklow’s wonderful highlights.
Including Wicklow Mountain National Park, The Sally Gap, Lough Tay, the Guinness Lake (film location of “Excalibur” and “Brave Heart”), “P.S. I Love You” bridge, Glendalough and its 6th century monastic site. There are many stops as we make our way towards Glendalough to take some wonderful scenic pictures.
On reaching Glendalough, your guide will show you around the 6th century Monastic site of St. Kevin. They will also explain some of the areas history and folklore to you. Then you will have some free time to explore Glendalough valley and the two lakes. There are many places here to enjoy a bite to eat or a coffee.
Afterwards we will return to Dublin for approx. 17:30.
