If you catch the earlier ferry at 10.30am or 1pm, you will have a chance to explore part of the island. Overnight Inish Mor

Day 2; Full day Inish Mor 16km, 5 hours, 180m ascent  A full day on Inish Mor gives you the oppourtunity to experience the island while walking quiet country lanes  and grass tracks from Kilronan pier to the beach at Cill Mhuirbhigh and back by Gort na gCapaill and Bothar na gCreag passing sites like Teampall Chiarain, Tur Eochaill, the Goat Farm, an Teach Mor (Kelp House), a viewing point for the seal colony and the swans at Loch Phort Corruch.  Dun Aonghasa, Poll na bPeist  and many other sites are close by while taking in spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.

DAY 3: Oughterard - Maam Cross 21km , approx. 5 hours, elevation 115m

After crossing by ferry from Rossaveal where you will be met by taxi for transfer to Oughterard, you will walk the Western way trail to the Maam Valley. Todays walk takes you from the flatter landscape of Galway into the beginning of a wilder landscape carved out by nature over 600 million years. A boardwalk path protects the delicate bogland environment from erosion and makes for a very pleasant and relatively flat days walking today. A view of the stunning Maumturks will end your day of walking in the Maam valley leaving you eager to experience the wilder side of Connemara. Overnight Maam

DAY 4: Maam Valley - Lough Inagh 15km , 5 hours, ascent 300m

The word Maam comes from the Irish word Mam, meaning mountain pass. This hints at the nature of todays trail. The approach to Maumean, the pass you will cross to reach the Inagh Valley, is a long but very gradual climb. You will be rewarded at the top with unrivalled views of the Twelve Bens and the Inagh Valley. Nestled at the top of the pass is a tiny church, a lovely spot to sit and take some time. Overnight Inagh Valley

DAY 5: Lough Inagh to Leenane 15km, 5 hours, ascent 100m

Flanked by the Maumturks on your right and the Twelve Bens on your left, you will leave the Inagh valley along forestry trails to be rewarded with your first views of Killary harbour, Irelands only fjord. Leenane awaits with good food, music and perhaps a pint of the black stuff. Overnight Leenane

DAY 6: Transfer by taxi from Leenane to Cleggan for ferry crossing to Inishbofin Island. Inishbofin Island, 11km off the Galway coast, is famous its white sandy beaches and stunning landscape.

Today, Inishbofin has become an important centre for traditional Irish music, now world famous for its music sessions. There are marked trails throughout the island, taking in the differing landscapes of the western end of the island and the eastern side. On the western aspect you will experience quiet country roads, rocky pavements and  white sandy beaches. Another marked trail on the eastern side of the island shows contrasting landscape of cliff tops and elevated views of the Altlasntic ocean and its many small islands.

DAY 7: Full day Inishbofin

DAY 8: Departure from Inishbofin by ferry There is a bus service from Cleggan which will bring you to Galway city for onward travel to airports. Perhaps you might even like to arrange an extra night in Galway. We would be happy to do this for you.
