About The Walk: We will be starting this walk from the Glenmalure Lodge. We start on the road for a short section passed the old Britiah army barracks and into the forest here. The forest trail takes us along the side of Slieve Mann. The walking path then circles the upper slopes of Carrickashane (508m) before descending to reach the Ow River valley at the Iron Bridge.
What to expect: small country roads and lanes, Forest track.
Views over South Wicklow and its high mountain peaks.
What to Bring for you day walk.
Suitable walking boots, Rain gear, warm clothes, flask of hot drink, WATER, small lunch,
good socks, hat and gloves and spare top in bag.
How to get there by car: (From Dublin)
If your coming from Dublin take the N11 and come of at the sign for Kilmacanogue / Glendalough.Follow this road through through Roundwood, Anamoe and towards Laragh. When entering Laragh take teh left turn at Lynhams and follow this road for approx 3Km, then you will see a sign to the right for Glenmalure, continue on this raod until you reach Drumgoff Crossroads and the Lodge is just on your left.
