Cullentragh -Derrybawn (White Oak)
Glendalough is an area of outstanding beauty in the Wicklow Mountains National Park.
Details: Starting from Lynham’s Hotel, we will follow the old geen road and then onto the orange trail around the side of Derrybawn and then turn left. This trail brings us on the northern side of Derrybawn and out onto the road where we enter again through a gate onto the side of Cullentragh. Once on top the views over the two lakes of Glendalough are spectacular. We walk along the ridge the summit of Derrybawn and a great picnic location overlooking the lakes of Glendalough.The we have a descent all the way back onto the Wicklow trail following a forested trail back to the start.
We will be stopping for a bite to eat along the way so bring a packed lunch.
How to get there by car:
The best way to get to Glendalough from Dublin or Bray would be to get onto the N11 heading south. Get off it at Kilmacanogue and head for the Roundwood / Glendalough / Laragh direction. Go through Roundwood, then Annamoe and to Laragh. The Lynhams Hotel is just on your left at the corner.
What to Bring for you day walk.
Suitable walking boots, Rain gear, suncream, flask of hot drink, WATER, small lunch,
good socks, hat and gloves and spare top in bag.
