Details of Walk:

St Kevin is the founder of Glendalough Monastic City. We trace the journey he made across the Wicklow Mountains, a route later popular with pilgrims making their annual journey to the "Valley of the Seven Churches".

This route is approx 30 km and is a mixture of trail, bogs, roads, forests and incorporates some slopes. On the journey we have views over the former Lead Mines of Luganure, Turlough Hill, Wicklow's distinctive hydro electric scheme, some of the toughest mountain territory in the Wicklow mountain range, and the lovely King's River which flows close to much of our route.

We plan to offer two levels of walk - the tougher level which will walk from Glendalough, up Glendasan Valley and up to Turlough Hill car park.
Turlough Hill is the starting point for the second group with the major slope taken off your walk! From here the route travels through forestry, passing the lovely St Kevin's Pool (nice place for a picnic or a tot of sloe gin!).
We eventually pick up little country boreens which will bring us down to Hollywood, past St Kevin's Cave.

Hollywood is a charming little rural village with two lovely pubs and we can enjoy a hearty meal in the Hollywood Inn (established 1790) and of course "toast the shamrock" with some beverage or another!
