Here is an interesting, anBorris House in Kilkennyd potentially wonderful weekend to open the Spring walking season!! We will travel down to St Mullins, formerly a major monastic settlement, with a stunning Norman Motte!! From here we walk the flat grassy banks of the River Barrow, up to Graiguenamanagh, a walk of approx 8 km.

On Saturday 3rd The group is likely to split into two, with the pacier group walking approx 18km, all the way from St Mullins into the grounds of Borris House, ancestral home of the McMurrough Kavanaghs, descendants of the infamous Dermot McMurrough!! We will enjoy a house tour here and it promises to be very interesting.

We then head to New Ross for the glamorous surroundings of Brandon House Hotel, a four star hotel on the outskirts of the town. Here, those that are "under walked" can work out in the gym and swim in the pool, while those who need pampering can book themselves in for a spa (up to you to organise that!). We will have our dinner here and no doubt can raise a glass or two to our day.Boats on the Barrow

On Sunday 4th Those who fancy knocking off a "county top" can join us on a lively walk up Brandon Hill - 515 m and truly a "gentle slope" if ever there was one! For those who have had enough of walking, you can visit the Dunbrody replica ship, moored down at the quay in New Ross, visit the wonderful Ros tapestry, or even venture to the Kennedy homestead in nearby Dunganstown, and admissions are at your own cost.

We aim to return to Dublin/Wicklow in the early/mid afternoon.

The cost for this - dinner, bed and breakfast, two guided walks, house admission, and bus transfers back to car is €125 and a single supplement (subject to availability) is €30 A booking deposit of €40 is required to hold your place.

Bring a packed lunch with BIG sandwiches on Saturday,

Walking boots, shoes, raingear, water, camera, sun cream.

A non-refundable deposit of €35 is required to secure your place and due to the limited accommodation options, we are capping numbers initially at 20.

What to bring: Walking boots, walking socks, rain gear, backpack, flask, camera, sun cream.
