The Slieve Blloms sit in Ireland's midlands between the counties of Laois and Offaly. They are lovely rolling hills with some incredible easy walking routes. Because they stand on their own in the midSlieve Bloom Waterfalllands the views are spectacular for such little work. There are numerous wonderful small towns dotted near these hills in a patch work of small farms.  The small town of Cadamstown, where we will be starting our first walk from is just approx 1.5hrs drive from Dublin

Day 1) We will meet at the Gandon Inn, Junction 15 off the N7 at 10 am. This is a Gandon designed Coaching Inn, graced with a Topaz forecourt! Here you will find coffee, sandwiches and indoor toilets - make sure you have a packed lunch as we have discovered a lovely sylvan setting for lunch.

Our route takes us cross country, through the villages and towns of Laois - Emo, Mount Mellick, Rosanallis and finally Cadamstown, the trailhead for our loop.

Cadamstown: Giants Grave Loop -This will be about 12/13km of genuinely gentle slopes and some interesting sights including the Giant's Grave and the lovely ravine where the Silver River flows - a truly Tullamore Dew Whiskeyattractive end to our first walk.

Walk: moderate Length 12 km, Duration: 3 hrs, Ascent: 150m, Terrain: forest tracks and hiilside

Then we head cross country to our next stop - Lough Boora which is a stunning place. Here there are a range of trails, a renowned sculpture park, wetlands, wildlife and a lot more. We can decide what length of trail to walk, depending on the time as we have a "hot date" with some whiskey!

We aim to reach Tullamore by 16.30  to check into the Central Hotel right in the heart of this busy town. We are booked into Tullamore Dew Visitor Centre for 5.15 for their tour and tasting so we will get our evening off to a great start. Dinner will be in the hotel, and we will find the "hot spots" in Tullamore for a lively evening.

Day 2) Canal Walk - Easy on the FlaSlieve Blooms Guidest

The following morning, we aim to continue the "flat theme" with a canal side walk of approx 12km.

And, finally, on the way home, some of us plan to visit Emo Court, a stunning mansion in the village of Emo, and is well worth a visit. Let me know and I will book us in - group rate will be approx €5

We plan on being back in Dublin for approx 5pm.

What to bring for walks: Walking boots, walking socks, rain gear, backpack, flask, camera, sun cream.

Cost: €115pps.
